Groundwork's Green Doctors are working in communities across the country, offering practical support to people who are often those most deprived and at risk of fuel poverty. Our projects help to make homes cheaper to run, healthier to live in and more environmentally friendly.
Groundwork Yorkshire has consistently delivered these services to a high standard since 2008 to around 2000 households each year. Being a well-established, trusted and professional organisation, the Green Doctors Yorkshire have developed many long-term partnerships with Local Councils & Public Health, for example through our HomePlus Leeds & Bradford Warm Homes Healthy People programmes alongside key organisations such as Care & Repair, Age UK and many other community and national organisations in the fields of health, social care, debt advice and housing. We receive consistent and generous support from both Northern Gas Networks and Northern Powergrid to deliver Green Doctor home visits and to develop other energy related services such as our recent telephone advice service and our Energy Management scheme for small businesses.
We have developed a variety of fuel poverty training courses and information sessions tailored to the needs of each group, ranging from frontline key workers, elderly groups and ESOL classes. Each year the Green Doctor Yorkshire team train over 1000 people each year.
The managment of the Green Doctor programme is handled by a custom made Zoho Creator application developed by Groundwork GDS. This application helps the teams to generate referrals, verify eligibility criteria and make home visit appointments all in a single system, increasing the efficiency of the programme many fold.
